Jame Martin is a celebrity chef with a Saturday morning show on ITV, filmed from his own home kitchen! He also has restaurants at Manchester, in the New Forest and a string of cafe / diner outlets.
He has collaborated with Whal to produce a small range of small kitchen appliances and extensively tests them himself before allowing Whal to put his name to them.
We are impressed by this grill, it has the standard features you would expect, non stick surface, variable heat control and a removable dishwasher friendly drip tray.
The cooking area ( 38 x 21 cm ) is not huge and is just about large enough to do breakfasts or dinners for 2, if you want an entertaining grill then go for the VonShef XXL with its 90cm x 23cm grilling area.
The thing we like about this grill is the is removable ( for easy cleaning ) grilling plate which is divided into 2 cooking areas, one flat side for griddling and a ridged side which lets the fat run off as you grill meats.
This means you can cook meat on the grill along with veggies without mingling tastes. We tried a ‘surf & turf’ grilling a steak on the ridged area while searing prawns on the flat side and there was no taste migration.
Then we did pancakes and bacon ( after a good clean ), also very successful.
You also get some of James rather interesting recipes with it, we really liked the Char Grilled bananas.
