George Foreman Large Variable Temperature Grill & Griddle 23450, Black

The George Foreman 23450  Grill & Griddle is our  PainFree best buy combination press grill and griddle.

Suitable for indoor table or outdoor cooking the the grill plate takes 4 portions while the  griddle plate takes  6 meaning you can cook up to 10 portions of food at a time.

In real terms it means I managed to cook 2 full English breakfasts at once that’s a total of: 4 rashers of bacon, 2 eggs, 2 sausages, 2 slices of black pudding, 1 ( halved ) tomato and threw a few mushrooms in the gaps. It won’t fry bread though, you still need a greasy frying pan for that.

Both the grill and griddle have independent variable temperature controls allowing you to alter the temperature of the surface dependent on the food type. If you only want to use one side of the appliance,  turn off the  temperature control on the one your not using.

Both  top and bottom press grill plates heat the food giving even cooking throughout, the gentle pressure from the plates helps to squeeze out the fat, I found this meant the fat on my chops cooked up really crispy.

The sloping non stick grill plates are designed to allow fat and grease to run off into a drip tray removing up to 42% of fat from food, the drip tray slots in perfectly and is easy to clean.

The press grill’s  floating hinge automatically adjusts the top grill plate keeping it flat ensuring even cooking – ideal for toasting sandwiches, paninis or uneven portions of meat.

I’ve tried The George Foreman 23450 with a variety of fresh & frozen meats including: Steaks, Lamb & Pork chops, chicken breasts and wings, burgers, sausages and done a decent shish kebab.

I also cooked Fish & seafood: Mackerel, Salmon, Pollock, Prawns and Oysters  (Kippers were a mistake, they cooked well but stunk out the house), various vegetables and a variety of toasted sandwiches.

Everything cooked well and evenly, even though the plates are non stick I found brushing them lightly with oil ( I used rapeseed ) gives best results and makes them easier to clean.
